Living Assistance Services was founded because a growing number of families often expressed frustration that they had few alternatives other than to place their loved ones in a nursing home facility.

The Director, David Porter, CPCA, personally discovered this as a result of difficulty in acquiring assistance for his mother who, in 1997, was discharged from the hospital. He was astounded at the degree of difficulty in sourcing qualified caregivers who were kind, knowledgeable, reliable and reasonably affordable.

In the summer of 2000 David opened the Toronto office of Living Assistance Services. His goal was simple – offer a service which is largely unavailable from other local agencies at a standard no less than he would expect for his own parents.

Since this time, the Toronto office has provided first rate care to seniors in their own homes, retirement/nursing homes and hospitals on a full or part time basis, live in or live out.

Living Assistance Services has always held the philosophy that they are in business to provide the best care possible to care recipients together with total respect to the caregiving staff. Porter’s belief is that the agency should have the very best in training and support to ensure clients receive top quality care whenever the need exists.

The secret of the Toronto office is really no secret at all. Everyone working there, from the Director all the way up to the Caregivers, is dedicated to doing everything within his/her power to see that each contact with the care recipients and their families is professional, efficient and memorable.
